Ah, spring: is there any time more exciting than … Okay, okay, so it’s not exactly spring-time yet. It’s coming, though, and now is the time to plan those spring-getaways!
One of the first big celebrations of the year is coming up soon: Maine Maple Sunday 2019. Maine Maple Sunday is always held the fourth Sunday of March and celebrates Maine’s maple harvest.
Sugarhouses across the state are readying for the annual maple harvest and soon the delectable scent of boiling maple sap will be on the air. Mmmmmm – is there any other scent as appealing?
Maine Maple Sunday 2019
During Maine Maple Sunday, Maine’s maple makers open their doors to visitors for the day. There will be maple sugaring demonstrations, sugarbush tours, and samplings of fresh maple products. Some farms go all out with sleigh and wagon rides, live music, pancake breakfasts, and much more.
Nearly 100 maple producers across the state have signed up as participating in Maine Maple Sunday. The full list of officially participating Maine Maple Farms can be viewed online at mainemapleproducers.com.
Best of all, even though it’s called “Maine Maple Sunday,” many farms open their doors for the entire weekend. Lots of Maine maple producers are unaffiliated with the event but participate out of sheer momentum. Some open their doors to visitors for the whole of sugaring season.
Maple sugaring time is hard work but it tends to bring out the best in folks – come experience it!
