While our area offers some excellent downhill opportunities, most of our guests seem keen to experience Maine cross country skiing. There are a variety of excellent cross country skiing areas right nearby!
Maine Cross Country Skiing Near Kennebunkport
Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm – 342 Laudholm Farm Rd, Wells, ME. www.wellsreserve.org
One of the first places that comes to mind is Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm. Wells Reserve is less than five miles from our Kennebunkport bed and breakfast and good for a visit no matter the season. Once the snow flies, however, the reserve’s lengthy trail system is an excellent for cross country or snowshoeing.

Just north of us sits another excellent opportunity to get in some Maine cross country skiing: Harris Farm. Harris Farm offers a variety of trails for skiers of all levels, with 25 miles of ski trails. Snowshoeing, sledding, and fatbiking is also available. The Harris Farm lodge includes a retail and rental shop, offering skis, snowshoes, and fatbikes for rent. Hotdogs, snacks, and hot drinks are available for sale on the weekends. Open 9am to dusk every day, snow permitting.
Smiling Hill Farm, at 781 County Road, Westbrook, ME (www.smilinghill.com), is another good option.
Smiling Hill has 25 kilometers of machine-groomed, cross country ski and snowshoe trails for skiers of all levels. The center is open 9am to dusk, offering full rentals, snack bar, wood stove, changing area, and gift shop.
