The Farnsworth Art Museum, in Rockland, ME, contains one of the nation’s largest collections of Wyeth family paintings. The more than 15,000 works in the museum collection include some of the best American artworks of the 18th and 19th century.

The museum’s permanent collection includes some of American art history’s greatest names from the 18th and 19th century. Name like Gilbert Stuart and Frank Benson, Thomas Sully, Fitz Henry Lane, Thomas Eakins, Eastman Johnson, Childe Hassam, and Maurice Prendergast.
The museum’s collection of Louise Nevelson sculpture is also worth note but its greatest claim to fame has to be its Wyeth Family Collection.
The Wyeth Center at Farnsworth Art Museum
The Wyeth Center collection features works by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. It also includes the Olson House in Cushing.
The Olson House is immediately recognizable to fans of Andrew Wyeth. The National Historic Landmark was featured in many of his paintings, including the iconic “Christina’s World” of 1948.
The museum offers tours immersive Wyeth Experience Tours, July through September. Tours include viewing Andrew Wyeth works at the museum, tour of the Olson House, and a van tour of Maine Wyeth landmarks.
The Farnsworth Homestead
The 1850 Farnsworth Homestead was home to Lucy Farnsworth, the museum’s benefactor. The homestead was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and serves as a time capsule of Victorian life.
